NCA question

i purchased NCA when it was first released and Alan hooked me up with version i can use for 100NLH which i imported. i have been having tons of hm2 problems(updates,crash,reimport,reinstall.......) so i am trying to narrow the problems down. since NCA forums are down and support hasn't gotten back to me i will try here

NCA works at 100NLH now in that i see badges and spark graphs on some players but it doesn't seem to show all the sparks/badges for others?
NCA works perfect at 50NLH
hm2 and HUD stats work fine at both 50 and 100 NLH

1) is there a place in hm2 where i can see exactly what version/level of NCA i am running?

2) is it possible NCA is only showing note/badges for 100NLH hand from date of install? and not showing datamined or 50NLH badges/sparks?

3) any contacts for some NCA support?

2) it definitely shows sparks/graphs etc on datamined hands. It will take some time but notes should be created on all hands in your database - so not only from the date that you have NCA

1) i don't think so, as i understood it is locked that you can't use badges/sparks etc on higher levels but it should show on all lower levels


Also having lots of problems with HM2 recently. Maybe a week after the big update that took hours. It could be related to NCA. (it worked fine the first few days. The notes had to be overwritten, which obviously takes many hours or even days - depending on your database. HM2 run this in the background while is open but once it finished and I had it all done I started having problems) It keeps freezing all tables ...
If during the game I want to save a hand or maximize it (i keep HM2 minimized after opening) to look at something, HM2 usually freezes the whole screen and nothing seem to work.
If I press ctrl+alt+delete to open a task manager everything works fine again. Also things seem to be lagy from time to time. Do you have similar issues?

I just emailed HM2 regarding my problems. If I get more info from them will let know here.

yes all my problems started with the update and yes it took a very long time to reimport database and then to rewrite the notes

mine also runs slow but hasn't crashed in a few days

HM2 email support has been terrible and i am still waiting(5 days)

NCA forum doesn't remember me and they don't answer email either

Not much help here, I'm gonna check my video card drivers but I doubt that's the issue. Here, I copied more relevant part:


Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\holdemmanager.exe, hudfuncsapp.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager2 installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for those files even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed.

They ignored my question if I can go back to the previous version and how to do this without major problems.

On the positive side. Had last 2 short sessions without problems. It feels so much better not being interrupted or bothered ...

I did most of the above or had the hm2 support guy do this and a bunch of other stuff and now HM2 seems to be working

NCA - still seeing some strange thinks:

the pop-up for the yellow bb badge has different sample sizes than the actual fold bb VS but stl found elsewhere in HUD(there are other like this)

pink 3 badge shows with fold iso-raise to 3b 1/3 on some players but seem to work correctly on other players

have found spots where a badge should be showing but doesn't

1) does NCA retail data that my HUD doesn't when i purge old hands?

2) how do i get some NCA support(no answer to my emails and no access to forums)?

Now I recollect that when I started with NCA and badges I had 3 or more mistakes and had to correct things myself manually (at least one of them was pointed out on the forum NCA - that's how I got the idea about it and I checked other things myself) Will try to look into my notes during the weekend and double check what I was doing with NCA.

Do you have a sufficient sample size? The badges will be inactive untill the same action will happen number of times.

1. My guess: yes
2. Have no idea. Maybe Alan Jackson would know more - as they co-operated on this project? Other people on this forum? They seem to be using NCA longer than myself or you.

This is a bit of weird issue as I provide support for backed players adn Nilay does not. You're both, but he should be at least emailing you back.

This will occur often as NCA adds in conditions to eliminate unusual sizing. For example the BB fold vs Btn steal isn't going to show Btn opens greater than 3x. In post flop situation we also normalize bet adn raising sizing so that data isn't skewed by min betting or over jamming.

Yes, until you rerun the definitions. Purging hands will cause issue w/ the seek function, but almost no one uses that and if you don't know what that is don't worry about it.

A issue you may have is that when I upgraded you to the 100NL package is that NC won't go back to previously imported hands which is probably why you're not getting much information on 100NL players. You need to rerun your entire database. If you have rerun your entire database and you feel like you're lacking info let me know and we'll figure it out.

Go into color definitions and open up that color definition and check the stat parameters. Now if the parameters are correct I should point out that if it's not showing up for players w/ 20K hands it's likely that they just are folding. There could be hundreds of occurrences but if they aren't folding above the set frequency then there's no badge.
